7/11/02 We welcome
3 year Inglewood, CA Police Dept. veteran, Jeremy J. Morse, 24, and officer Bijan Darvish, to our ranks. Congratulations, boys! For those of you who have not seen the recent press regarding these officers' lawful and swift detainment of Donovan Jackson and his father, Coby Cavis Jr., we encourage you to remember that the video tape documenting a small portion of the incident, was in fact made by a convict, on the run from the law for 3 incidents involving DUI, hit-and-run, and petty theft. This man, Mitchell Eugene Crooks, unemployed at the time of the recording, is now in police custody and will serve a 7 month prison sentance in Auburn, CA.

10/15/02 In the wake of the vicious and senseless crimes committed against each and every American in this country, the C.A.H.V. would like to officially applaud the use of extensive video monitoring equipment in the New York City area. God knows that many of our officers in New York will appreciate the obvious benefits these measures will provide.

5/22/99 In a daring move, Governor Bush has just publicly announced his stance on freedom of speech. Says the presidential candidate, "There ought to be limits to freedom." This remark was made in response to an internet web site that was set up to discredit him. We applaud Governor Bush's stance on freedom of speech. The C.A.H.V. will issue a press release later in the week affirming our support and reiterating our firm stance on video recording equipment in the home. We believe that Bush's admission of what had previously been a private sentiment will spur political changes that will properly limit our "freedom" to record whatever we choose. It is so often that the word "freedom" means the right to take away someone else's rights.

What is C.A.H.V.?

C.A.H.V. stands for Cops Against Home Video. The organization was founded in 1991 as a coalition of current and retired Law Enforcement officers and officials, and Federal and Local government officials who advocate a No Tolerance policy against the use of video recording equipment in the home. We believe that this use interferes with the effective and potential enforcement of the law.
